The Alexander technique is about admittance

Students get the guidance from outside therefore the most important element of our art lies in touch. Touch encourages students to give. Touch of our hands is not meant to correct improper use but to create an environment in which neck is released and head is directed forwards and upwards. Alexander is the Abraham Lincoln of the body who declares freedom of neck, which does not serve head anymore. It is not simply a place for head but it is a source of nature.

Inhibition
The four "i" letters in this word belong to the same world. It tells us how to see our wonderful inner world while we are occupied with our outer world.

Direction
It means the comprehension that downwards means upwards as well and vica versa. It leads human beings to an understanding of their own complexity.

Touch and Teaching
These two belong together. Teaching is not selling our knowledge and not just stuffing our brains with knowledge. It is basically perception, experiment and experience concentrated in the teacher's hand. However, a word is a helper of touch, it makes a touch complete and clears up the unexperienced perception. Words only have power when they are accompanied by simplicity and clarity at the right time, to the right amount. Thus words start to touch and hands start to speak.
